Spiritual direction--receiving and offering it--has been an important part of my life since the 1990s. During that time, I lived in Chicago and received two degrees from McCormick Theological Seminary: A Master of Arts in Theological Studies with an emphasis on spirituality, and a Master of Divinity degree that prepared me to be ordained as a Minister in the Presbyterian Church (USA) in 2000.  That same year, I also became an oblate (non-monastic affiliate) of the monastic Order of St. Benedict.  All of this is to say that as a spiritual director, I blend ecumenical, interfaith-friendly contemplative wisdom and practice with personal experience and professional preparedness. While I specialize in working with religious professionals seeking spiritual direction, I welcome people from all vocations to contact me.

I am a non-judgmental listener who asks questions and makes observations to help individuals reach down deep within themselves and bring forth stories and make connections.  The process can lead to awareness and insight that is holy and healing.

I am the author of four books and numerous articles and poems on spiritual lifeSince 2003, I have taught on the faculty of the Hesychia School of Spiritual Direction. I work comfortably with directees from a variety of spiritual traditions, and am open to and affirming of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender people.

I meet with spiritual directees online via Zoom and in two different locations: in Tucson's university neighborhood and on the far northwest side. A phone message can be left for me at 520-664-6970, or an email may be sent to my attention at rachelsrubas@gmail.com
